About

Profile picture of Tia Fox

My work is in a constant state of evolution and growth. I am a detailed and meticulous worker by nature, and through my time at DJCAD I have learned how to balance this strive for perfection with letting loose and experimenting out of my comfort zone.

My illustrations are inspired by many different things, usually based on what interests me at the time. One week it could be dinosaurs, the next, cityscapes and fashion! I believe that this helps me adapt to each brief with versatile approaches.

At the moment, most of my work is created digitally. I love working on procreate, as it allows me to work with textures in a controlled and creative manner. Post-graduation I would love to reconnect with my traditional skills and establish a balance between the two mediums. I look forward to experimenting with print-making, paper art and graphite illustration.

In the near future, I would love to delve into children's picture book illustration. This was my first exposure to illustration as a child and I believe it sparked my interest in art at a very young age. My very first attempt at creating a children's picture book resulted in 'An A-Z of Dinosaurs,' a project I'm very proud of.

An A-Z of Dinosaurs' Picture Book

A stack of children's picture books entitled 'An A-Z of Dinosaurs' laid on an orange background.

This non-fiction picture book created in my final year brings the reader through the alphabet, featuring a wide range of illustrations of our favourite prehistoric animals along the way. This project was created using indesign and procreate.

V&A Dundee Merchandise Project

Wooden pins on blue backing cards featuring the V&A logo and a swirling water design. Rolls of blue and pink wrapping paper with a swimming otters pattern.

For this project, I created wooden otter pins and wrapping paper inspired by the Scottish 10 pound note design in the V&A's Scottish Design Galleries. These items were designed and created to be fit for sale in their merchandise shop, and taught me a lot about branding and surface design.

Penguin Cover Design Award

Mockup of the 'To Kill a Mockingbird' design on paperback on a black background

Cover design for Harper Lee’s classic novel ‘To Kill a Mockingbird,’ prompted by Penguin’s 2023 Cover Design Award briefs. This design aims to convey the major theme of innocence in the novel and how the harshness of the world destroy it.
