Seanchaí is located within the demolished Wallace Craigie Jute Mill building. The hotel would provide accommodation for Dundee’s growing tourism industry. The redevelopment of the waterfront, most notably the introduction of the V&A museum and now the Eden Project will attract many more guests to the city. The Eden Project is creating 9 new guilds to echo the historic 9 trades of Dundee. Seanchaí focuses on the “mythmakers” guild. Like Antoni Gaudi's work, organic architecture heavily influences the hotel’s interior design. Due to their surreal, fantastical qualities, the design is centred around Art Nouveau and Catalan Modernism practices. The folklore tale of the Dundee dragon was the main inspiration for the design. The hotel features a large open lobby, with “living” columns, a restaurant, a swimming pool, and a roof-top garden. The hotel collects and reuses water collected from the roof to help reduce water wastage.
