There is a lack of eczema positivity in the world, and this is a huge contributor to the unconscious social stigma that surrounds eczema. This is what has driven me to create Blotch, I want to create a way for people to embrace their skin condition and not feel ashamed or embarrassed. Eczema is such a common skin condition that it can be passed over as a minor issue to people who have never experienced it. Finding others with the same issues and skin as you creates an unspoken instant connection, you have been through similar traumas and have found someone who fully understands the trials of eczema.

The app is an online community where people can help others and share their eczema journeys together. The idea is for people to learn from and engage with alike people, no one quite understands what it's like to have eczema except those with eczema. Users share their depiction of their eczema, which gives them control and empowerment over its appearance. They can write their own thoughts and feelings about aspects of the skin condition, this allows them to share positivity but also allows room to vent their frustrations.

This project means a lot to me personally as I have suffered from eczema since I was young. I often felt the need to cover it up and hide because I was embarrassed by what people might think. I have learned over the years to manage it and I am on the path to being at peace with the appearance of my skin.
