A discipline of pure pink.

About

Oli Valentine Kemp

As the basis of her practice, she engages with real world phenomena through the manor of fabrication and fiction. As she encounters the weight and breadth of technological and digital development and abandonment, she transforms elements into plots and stories which aim to fulfil the indescribable sentiment surrounding the issue. Her most recent project of two years, revolves around a substance dubbed “The Slime.” The project expands over several subject matters of global consumerist behaviour and postmodern philosophy, and is embodied through a discipline of pure pink. Operating across drawing, sculpture, film and graphic design, she unfolds the story, always returning to the visceral element of The Slime, a material of her own concoction.

The slime arrives on the west coast of America, in Santa Monica Bay. It crawls across the nation, soaking up the macrocosm, of course becoming outrageously famous as it travels. It eats the people and their animals, and the free animals, and the territories, and the uncharted territories. It drinks it all up. Everything mankind never discovered, trust, the slime will absorb these critters and their homes. The slime wants it all. Don't you want to be part of something bigger? What are you running from? Get optimised; you could be pure information.
