Morgan Stewart
My work is influenced by paper collage artists, landmarks and combining illustrations with textiles.
About
My work is very playful and I like experimenting and considering how paper and collage can create exciting images. My work also shows the appreciation I have for nature and surroundings from Edinburgh - which highly influences me. My work also has an ongoing theme of taking inspiration from my little brother who inspires me daily on how to create work suitable for a 3-year-old. I have a love for textiles and love combining both illustration and textiles throughout my work. This includes creating surface designs that can be adapted to other products. I have used this inspiration as part of my degree show work which focuses on landmarks in Edinburgh and how Edinburgh residents often miss the beauty of these places.
Grassmarket location drawing
A location drawing based on inspiration from Edinburgh’s historic landmarks. A project that was for my degree show.
Book Components
A collage of paper cut animal collages. Created using painted paper and textures. This is part of my children’s book ‘Alfred’s Jammy Adventure’.
Grassmarket Location Embroidery
This work is created to showcase Edinburgh landmarks. This image mimics the brushstrokes of a brush pen and is part of a collection of landmark wall hangings.
You can continue to support me by interacting with my Instagram. Sharing my work and recommending me also helps. I have a small business where I combine both illustration and textiles and after university, I am hoping to expand this with the knowledge I have gained throughout my degree.
