About

In a lot of my work throughout My Degree I have focused on using and exploring different Printmaking techniques making full use of the printmaking workshops available. With my new found love for anything print related i have tried to incorporate printmaking in to my work whenever i get the chance! a lot of these techniques can be seen within my level 4 Portfolio.
I currently don't have a set style of illustration, as this allows me to work freely with whatever brief I'm challenged with.

In my work I favour simple graphic images with an emphasis on bold composition. I tend to use a limited colour pallet, mainly black and white with an accent colour but I am not opposed to creating colourful illustrations! I enjoy working digitally but i much prefer working traditionally as this is what I'm more familiar with, however this year I set myself the challenge to try and create more work digitally.

My goal is to continue advancing my printmaking skills and see where this takes me!

V&A Project 'Hunter wellie boot'

This project consists of a t-shirt, postcard, and tote bag design. The illustration is of a bright green wellie boot that is being used as a vase with a variation of red, pink, and yellow flowers sprouting from it. The image was created using Lino and then screen-printed onto the fabric.

In this project we were to use the V&A Scottish Design Galleries as a source of inspiration, the Hunter wellie boot was the inspiration behind these printed items. The image was created using Lino stamps that were then digitally composed. The postcards were printed on seeded paper, when planted turn into wildflowers! i thought this was very fitting as in the image the Boot is being used like a vase. The t-shirt and tote bag were both 7 colour screen prints.

Bratsford Prize 2023 'at peace'

three book frontispieces side by side

The inspiration behind this project was Hozier's song "in a week", every lyric in this song illustrates a peaceful environment so perfectly. The illustrations are Lino cut prints with red text screen printed below.

"chasing something not meant for me"

The image is of a carousel, one of the horses is facing the wrong direction.

For our first project coming into level 4, we were to write a 6 word memoir, thinking we had to illustrate our own, plot twist we were given a fellow classmates memoir!
