I create 3D rigs manually according to what the character is required to do within the film. I have crated 3 rigs for the various student films: Baby and Elder pangolins, and a hand rig for Kitchen Madness. For both pangolin rigs, I focused on creating an accessible rig that can be used by anyone without much difficulty, ensuring that IK and FK are available where required, as well as a combination of facial joints and blendshapes for the more expressive baby character. For the kitchen madness project, I focused on ensuring that the hand rig deformed as cleanly as possible for the close up shot, and added set driven keys to make gripping and spreading the fingers much easier for the animators.

For my animation work, I have animated baby pangolin in various shots, and I focused on the emotional performance of the character as the film relies on evoking sympathy from the audience for maximum impact. Working from the animatic I added additional movements such as falling and tripping to ensure that the baby comes across as a cute and sympathetic character.

Please feel free to make any donations to charities that aim to assist the plight of the pangolins, as they are a widely trafficked animal that do not have much global awareness to their situation.
