About

Kyle McLauchlan

I mainly try to make stories in all of my work, whether that be  making comics, children's books or making a series of images that tell an overarching story. In my work I like to use lots of ink as enjoy artists like Mike Mingola and Eduardo Risso, I Try to use full black ink in places where there usually is some form of shading. This can make some of my work seeming more 'dark' so I also use a style that is akin to a more pulled back version of my usual style.

The images on this page are as follows. The first image is an excerpt from my children's book, the second image is a cover that I made for the book Animal Farm, and the third is a collection of 4 panel comics that I make and post on my Instagram.

Excerpt from children's book

the image is of a Frankenstein-esque boy walking along a hallway looking dispondent and sad.

Animal farm cover

On the right hand page there is the main pig of the book 'Napoleon' standing in front of a windmill. On the second page there are several animals lined up in terms of importance in the story. In the order of Pig, Dog and then horse. the style for the piece is in an old communist propaganda style.

A collection of my 4 panel comics

The comic on the top left is about someone asking me how my degree show prep was coming along, the comic revels that I was struggling. the Top right comic is about a customer asking me if I work at the store I'm working at. The bottom left image is about an awkward experience when some one working in fast food says to "enjoy your meal" and then you respond "you too" and you internally die of embarrassment. The bottom right image is a comic of me wanting to spoil me new nephew
