About

portrait of Jillian Mendoza

The mind behind the forever-solo project ‘MENDONKA’,  Jillian’s practice within illustration is like an island of ideas that are both new and old, fresh yet familiar with a balance between the personal and the absurd. as her craft continues to evolve and become more in-tune to what she want to convey, she also recognises the importance of visually communicating in a fluency that is simple and understandable enough for the viewer while retaining a playful and somewhat kitsch perspective, taking inspiration from music, literature, and the everyday experiences of the world. Jillian tries her best not to worry about how random her art can be, and allows to organically process ideas in a more subconscious and earnest manner.

When she’s not being MENDONKA, Jillian likes to stay sane by devouring what she finds interesting, napping at non-ideal hours and taking walks around areas that are remotely pleasing to be in. You will often see her wearing some sort of headwear too.
