A chair that looks initially uncomfortable, becomes comfortable when you sit in it and encourages you to find your own unique sitting position.

About

I am a very technical designer who develops a concept by making digital and physical prototypes. Prototyping has been my main focus throughout my "Uncomfy" project from the very beginning, making small maquette models of my initial concepts, often even before putting them to paper. The majority of my developments were done by creating different CAD models and renders to see how the different parts could be made and assembled to create the next iteration of the physical prototypes. The material testing from my physical prototypes allowed me to explore the different physical aspects that I wanted to explore which couldn't necessarily be simulated in the CAD software.

This project was inspired by my observation of people who are all sitting in the same seat, sitting in their own unique manner, which I thought would be an interesting subject to explore. The furniture designed by Peter Opsvik was my primary inspiration for creating something that encourages the user to find their own sitting position, especially the "Garden".

This project has really fuelled my passion for making interesting people of furniture that people find interesting and enjoy using.
