Graphic Design BDes (Hons)

My work this year focuses on a wide range of subjects, I chose topics that were close to my heart and I hope to inspire and educate others through my work.

About

Bethany Downs

My ISTD submission focuses on the colour purple in witchcraft - what it means and how it can be used to enhance psychic abilities through spell-work and meditation. I chose this topic because I felt that the importance of colour in Witchcraft is not highly documented and I wanted to be able to demonstrate how colours can be important in cultures for a multitude of reasons.

My first personal project is titled "The World Through Neurodiverse Eyes". This project is all about living with Neurodiversity and aims to educate people on what it is like to live with various Neurodiversities such as dyslexia, ADHD and Autism. This project should make you feel awkward and uncomfortable when watching the motion graphic I created to allow viewers to go on an immersive journey experiencing a day in a life of a Neurodiverse mind. I also created a publication which educates the reader on various Neurodiversities with the hope of breaking the stigma attached to them.

My second personal project is called "Don't Cry Over Sliced Eggs"  -  This project is a publication all about idioms found in various languages. This book is a fun project which teaches people about the meanings of different idioms and their origins. I wanted to create this book as growing up with Autism I often took things too literally, so when people spoke to me in metaphors and idioms I didn't understand what they meant. I hope to help other people who struggle with interpretation of idioms through this work.

This video is a complete flip through of my ISTD Submission. This project is very close to my heart and I hope it provides an insight into the Wiccan community and the importance of the colour purple within it.
