This guided walk with Matthew Jarron explores the role of public art in the cultural regeneration of Dundee, focusing on the pioneering Blackness Public Art Programme of the 1980s and the inclusion of artworks in the creation of play parks and other social amenities.
This Public Art Programme was pioneering in its integration of art and urban regeneration and its success led to the largest city-wide programme in Scotland. Dundee now has over 500 sculptures, mosaics, murals and other forms of public art, some highlights of which we’ll see on this fascinating tour.
