Join these relaxed crafting sessions for a chance to get up close and creative with the University of Dundee Museums' collections and discover fascinating artefacts from the University's history.

Come and visit the Global Room (in College Hall, behind the Tower Building) on a Wednesday afternoon between 3 and 4.30 pm to discover some of our fascinating objects and take inspiration from them in a relaxed setting. You will be provided with all the materials you need to create miniature artworks and crafts to take home as a reminder of what you discovered that day.

To celebrate Dundee Women's Festival, this mindful crafting session will be inspired by slides used by pioneering biologists Helen Ogilvie and Doris Mackinnon to study marine phytoplankton and proto-zoology. After admiring some microscope images and hearing about these remarkable women we’ll be creating our own arranged microscope slides using buttons, beads and card shapes to make a beautiful design.

Mindful crafting sessions are part of the University of Dundee Museums’ well-being initiative, helping you discover new areas of the University, engage with its artworks, artefacts, culture and heritage, and meet others with a shared interest. The aim is to encourage you to engage with arts and heritage and provide more diverse opportunities to benefit well-being. They will help us connect, be active, keep learning and be mindful.
