This webinar will be divided in two parts. In the first part Andrea Rodriguez will present the principles and definition of Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR) for health equity; in the second part Prof. Lisa Gibbs will present the ‘Teeth Tales’ project a practical model for child oral health promotion for culturally diverse communities in Australia.

Dr Andrea Rodriguez is the recently announced winner of the University of Dundee 2021 Stephen Fry Engaged Researcher Award, reflecting the excellent work being undertaken in the field of oral health and homelessness.

Attendees will gain greater awareness and understanding of:

  • Principles and definitions of community-based participatory research
  • The use of this methodology to promote oral health/health of vulnerable and stigmatised groups and communities
  • Cultural competence in service delivery to improve service access
