12th Biennial Symbiosis Conference

The University is hosting the 12th Biennial Symbiosis Conference, designed to celebrate all areas of transatlantic literary exchange.

Symbiosis is a journal dedicated to the studies of transatlantic literary and cultural relations between the British Isles and the Americas and was established in 1997.

This year, speakers will arrive in Dundee from all over the world to present papers that are related to the following three special themes:

  • Bicentenaries: George Eliot and Herman Melville amongst others

  • Crime Fiction

  • Comics

The following plenary presentations are free and open to all:

Professor Celeste-Marie Bernier, University of Edinburgh: ‘Read. Reflect. Act.: The Untold Story of the Anna-Murray Frederick Douglass Family’ on Sat 13 July, 4:30-6:00pm, Dalhousie LT1
