Dr Maura Daly: 'Fish in or out of water? Social Work in an Integrated World' and
Alistair Brown: 'Professional Social Work Identity in an Integrated World - A Practitioner's Perspective'.
Dr Maura Daly qualified as a social worker in 1989, following five years in residential child care. She subsequently worked for twelve years as a children and families’ social worker. Maura then moved to a family support organisation, where she held various roles including practice teaching, until finally managing the organisation. In her 30th year in practice, Maura took up full-time PhD study and will graduate next month. She now works at the University of Dundee. Maura’s interests are in the social work professional identity, social work education, family support, poverty and inequality and refugee migration.
Alistair Brown works for the Scottish Association of Social Work. He is a judicial member of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland and has experience in both statutory and 3rd sector and practiced in New Zealand for many years in youth mental health.
