Write for The Conversation

Want to communicate your research to a global audience beyond academia?

The University is a member of The Conversation, an independent source of news and views sourced from the academic and research community and delivered direct to the public. Senior editors from The Conversation will be leading a series of information and training sessions for Dundee staff over the course of this year.

Since we signed up, articles written by Dundee academics have been read more than 2,000,000 times, with 85% of these taking place outwith the UK. Thanks to this content being available under creative commons, Dundee researchers have found themselves republished by prestigious global media outlets including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, CNN and The Guardian. Their articles have led to appearances at the Science Media Centre, new research collaborations and conference speaking invitations among many other exciting opportunities.

“Writing for The Conversation made it very easy to get some key messages across to the general public. Our articles on tooth brushing for adults and which toothpaste to use for children have been read by over more than a quarter of a million people, translated into Spanish and French and picked up by almost 50 other publications. Working with the editors at The Conversation was positively collaborative and the online system they have was very straightforward to use. This was a very enjoyable process.” Professor Nicola Innes, School of Dentistry

This event is a general information session for staff who wish to get involved in this exciting public engagement opportunity.
