The 2014 fire that caused extensive damage to the Glasgow School of Art’s Mackintosh Building was a massive blow not only to the School but to the whole of society. The immediate response was to embark on an extensive rebuild to restore the Mackintosh Building to its former glory and take it forward in the 21st century. The Club for Former Members of staff have invited the Director of the Glasgow School of Art and former Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Professor Tom Inns, to give us an insight to the project.
Please come along at 2.30pm for tea and coffee before the talk starts at 3pm.
The event is being hosted by the University of Dundee Former Staff Club.
Given Tom's connection to Dundee and the subject matter the organising committee of the Club would like to extend the invitation to the wider University community. As per the Club's normal practice, there is a small fee for guests to attend (£5 per person) payable in cash on the day. From this charge, after the costs of the event have been covered a small donation will be made to the restoration fund.
If you plan to come along please advise Amy Pass in the Development and Alumni Relations team (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible and no later than Friday 30 March, to allow a suitable space to be booked. The location of the event will be advised after this date, however the talk will be held on city campus.
Unfortunately this event has been cancelled - it will be rescheduled later in the year.
