Visiting Scholar for MII-STEM project

The School of Education and Social Work extends a warm welcome to Wipavadee Khwaengmek from Kasetsart University (Bangkok Thailand), who is currently with us as a visiting scholar working with Professor Samia Khan and the MII-STEM project.

MII-STEM is an international research project funded by the GCRF, which aims to improve the quality of teacher education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) across Southeast Asia.

The project will examine the effectiveness of modelling and how it is taught to future science teachers in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Modelling is a key scientific practice which cuts across all of the STEM subjects. A key question is how modelling supports future teachers’ abilities to teach science effectively once in the field.
