 About Warp-it

WARP-it landing page

For every tonne of furniture sent to landfill it costs approximately £50 in landfill charges and results in 447kg CO²e/tonne. Transport costs, both financial and carbon add to these figures.

Warp-it is an initiative administered by the Procurement Office in conjunction with Estates & Buildings to enable pre-loved University furniture and equipment to be given a new home.

This initiative supports the University's Carbon Management Plan and Procurement Strategy together with Scottish Government policies. It has a sustainability focus which demonstrates the University's concern about its environmental impact responsibilities.

Warp-it allows owners to easily upload item descriptions, along with a photograph, where possible. Interested parties can view the Warp-it site and if an item is of interest, make contact, agree the handover and arrange collection/delivery.

Benefits

It is anticipated that the University will benefit from this initiative in the following ways:

Reduced landfill charges
Reduced capital expenditure on new items
Reduced carbon footprint
Identify College/Directorate champions
Identify and promote best practice areas.

So be at the forefront of this service and support Warp-it
