The University of Dundee Athena SWAN Steering Group is chaired by Professor Nic Beech.
The role of the University of Dundee Athena SWAN Steering Group is to review and contribute to the production of institution Athena SWAN Charter award applications. In addition to this, the Steering Group is also responsible for keeping the University's Executive Group appraised of progress via regular updates. The group supports the University of Dundee in its goal of gender equality by providing leadership and encouraging the development of initiatives to remove barriers to progress. Additionally, the group monitors progress on, and supports implementation of, the institutional and departmental Athena SWAN action plans.
The University of Dundee Athena SWAN Steering Group was formed before the 2013 application, but has since evolved, with membership reviewed regularly. The current chair is Vice Principal Nic Beech, with Professor Doreen Cantrell having previously held the position. Professor Nic Beech is Vice Principal for Academic Planning and Performance, and in addition to his role on the Steering Group, is also a member of the Athena SWAN Executive.
The University of Dundee intend to apply for their next Bronze award, under the new May 2015 criteria, in April 2017.
