Semester 1 19/20’s Enterprise Challenge Final saw 15 teams battle it out for the New Ideas Award and for the Most Enterprising Team Award. With the final vote down to the external judging panel: Cat Ward from Elevator (who are in a partnership with the Centre for Entrepreneurship), Simon Fraser from Bell Street Ventures at Abertay University, Adam Kosterka from Converge, Wendy Crosby from Murgitroyd and Helen Potter from Potter Innovation. The panel members delivered workshops throughout the 7week programme.
The event ran by the staff and students from the Centre consisted of two session where in each of them the teams carried out a 3minute pitch and then a 5minute Q&A session with the external judging panel in-front of an audience. The audience consisted off friends, family and classmates of the participants along with the guest speakers who carried out the workshops.
The judges then went away to give their feedback on all the teams at the end of the two sessions and decided the winning team.
It was close call for the New Ideas Award, but winners Matchlit Productions (Ari Brin - School of Humanities, Oskar Jankowski – School of Science and Engineering, Jella Huelgo – School of Social Sciences, Laura van Overbeek Crusells – School of Social Sciences, Renee Dumenil – School of Humanities and Tracy Kalinjuna – School of Business) took away the £1,000 prize money towards their start up business aiming to offer improv related social events (alcohol free) for students.
Karen Westland (School of Science and Engineering) of Science Unboxed took the runner up prize of £500 to offer a brokerage service connecting scientists to artists and designers for successful public engagement and research and development collaborations.
The winners of the Most Enterprising Team went to the European Team (Matthias Nouvet and Aleksandra Mihailova – both School of Law) with their idea yougetajob.com. Each member of their team will receive an advanced Insights Discovery Profile worth £300. We thank Insights for sponsoring this prize for the Enterprise Challenge Final.
