edr Strategy Group
The meeting of the edr Strategy Group on 19 October 2010 discussed the potential application for edr at Dundee of IT in the field of argumentation. Professor Chris Reed and other members of Dundee's Argumentation Research Group including Floris Bex, John Lawrence and Mark Snaith, presented current research and applications in argumentation technology to support mediation processes.
Mark Snaith from Dundee's Argumentation Research Group demonstrates the use of a Microsoft Surface in interacting with electronic argumentation resources.
The Surface allows arguments and debates to be attached to physical objects such as books and transcripts. When a book is dropped onto the Surface, the arguments within it 'spill out' and can be manipulated.
The edr Strategy group learn how to interact with the Argument Web through an interface implemented on the Microsoft Surface.
