This 10 week semester course will explore the use of sketchbooks and the many ways that thinking and learning can take place through their use. A sketchbook is essentially a work book which assists the development of personal research and ideas. It is a tool which encourages creativity in a number of ways and inspires innovation and creativity in the thinking process. To make sure we meet social distancing restrictions we are offering this class with a blended learning approach through a combination of digital online sessions and live sessions where we will take the sketchbook to different locations on campus and across Dundee investigating and gathering research, experimenting with print making, collage, life drawing and mark making will form the basis of the exploration allowing the student to take control over their own learning, offering new ideas for development and reflective practice. Looking at previous portfolio submissions and guidance on creating an online portfolio will also be given.
You will need internet access and a computer/laptop or similar device to participate in this class and we will be using Microsoft Teams to deliver the online teaching element of this class. For the live sessions you will be advised what materials to bring and where the location will be and if any additional safety requirements are necessary, for example face masks.
