Interpreting the world - Development of Sketchbook work
During Semester 1 the portfolio preparation students explored the use of sketchbooks and the many ways that thinking and learning can take place through their use. Following on from this, Semester 2 will encourage the use of a range of fine art materials and methods and students will be instructed on how to develop their own research ideas and preliminary sketchbook work into more resolved pieces. Using a wide variety of media and techniques, students will be encouraged to use their sketchbooks to develop new work from their initial drawings, and research and will be given the opportunity to work from briefs to strengthen their ability to develop their own unique vision and artistic direction. Exposure to different artists working methods, ideas and techniques will be paramount to the content of the course. Guidance will also be offered on how to present work for exhibition and for inclusion in a physical portfolio.
