V&A Dundee will open on 15 September
Creative energy in Dundee is soaring with the V&A Dundee now open.
With the world’s spotlight on Dundee, there's little doubt that there's a better place in the UK to study design (Guardian University league tables 2018).
Professor Jeanette Paul, Associate Dean for Learning & Teaching at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design said, “As a founding partner of the V&A Museum of Design Dundee, the University of Dundee is delighted about the museum opening.
“It is a vital cog in Dundee’s status as a UNESCO City of Design. It will be a magnet to attract the brightest and best students and staff to Dundee, and be a host to design-led business innovation, harnessing the economic potential of some of our brightest creative minds.
“We are excited to work with our partners at the V&A Museum of Design Dundee to present tremendous opportunities for our students here at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.”
Designed by internationally acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, it stands at the centre of the £1 billion transformation of Dundee’s waterfront.
The new museum will feature permanent galleries of Scottish design as well as an ambitious international programme of changing exhibition showcasing the very best of design from around the world.
The opening exhibition will be ‘Ocean Liners: Speed & Style’ which will re-imagine the golden age of ocean travel and its impact on design and culture. Some of the pieces on display can be viewed in our gallery below.
