Pernille Spence is an artist and lecturer based in Fife, Scotland.  She studied at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh before completing a BA(Hons) Degree in Fine Art Sculpture and a Post Graduate Diploma in Electronic Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.  From 1999, Pernille undertook a Research Residency at DJCAD until 2004 when she was appointed as a lecturer & researcher in Time Based Art & Digital Film.

Pernille currently runs the 3rd year programme in Art + Media and is Academic Co-ordinator for the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art + Design Exchange Programmes.

Pernille’s research interests are based around performance and moving image, including live art, performance for camera and site specific performance/interventions.  Her work explores a visual dialogue between the human body, movement and space and the body’s physical/psychological limits and constraints with in these parameters. She has been creating installations, performances and moving image works since the mid 1990s, exhibiting internationally. Her work has been shown at the National Review of Live Art, Glasgow, Beaconsfield, London, the European Performance Art Festival, Warsaw, the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art, Germany and the Dean Gallery, Edinburgh.  In 2006 was a recipient of a prestigious Scottish Arts Council Creative Scotland Award.
