The University of Dundee has been ranked in the Complete University Guide as 9th in the UK and once again Scotland’s top school of art and design in the Complete University Guide 2018.
Dundee has climbed 20 places in the survey since 2015 and the University features in the UK’s Top Ten for six of the subjects it teaches in this year’s guide. The rise reflects Dundee’s strong performance across a range of indicators.
This latest accolade comes on the back of Dundee being ranked as the top young university in the UK and one of the best young higher education institutions in the world. The University has been named The Times & Sunday Times Scottish University of the Year in each of the last two years and is comfortably within the top 200 global institutions identified in the Times Higher Education’s World University rankings.
Our Art & Design disciplines continue their climb in prestigious national league tables after being ranked 24th in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2018, topping the table in Design & Crafts which includes BDes (hons) Graphic Design; BDes (hons) Illustration; BSc (hons) Product Design; BDes (hons) Interior & Environmental design; BDes (hons) Jewellery & Metal design, and BSc (hons) Digital Interaction Design. Furthermore, disciplines within our Contemporary Art Practice programme (BA (hons) Fine Art and BA (hons) Art & Philosophy) as well as BDes (hons) Animation and BDes (hons) Textile Design were ranked 3rd in the UK and top in Scotland.
"There are many contributing factors to this success including six subject areas across the University that are now ranked in the top 10,"said Professor Paul Harris, Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee.
"We aim to provide the very best of experience and teaching to our students, and deliver world class research. We are delighted to see this reflected in the rankings and various tables."
“The student experience at Dundee is consistently rated among the best in the UK and this, combined with excellence in many subject areas, has led to us recording fantastic performances in league tables such as this in recent years,” said Professor Sir Pete Downes, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee.
“I am delighted by yet another excellent performance, which once more demonstrates the progress we are making towards our long-term goal of being Scotland’s top University in all areas in which we choose to work. The employability of our graduates is a very positive aspect of these rankings. We aim to transform the lives of our students during their time here and also enable them to transform lives themselves by applying what they have learned at University.”
Dundee is also ranked in the UK’s top 30 and placed 2nd-4th in Scotland in both the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide and the Complete University Guide. The University has improved its position in every major league table this year and has been ranked as the top young university in the UK and one of the best young higher education institutions in the world.
The University has been named The Times & Sunday Times Scottish University of the Year in each of the last two years and is comfortably within the top 200 global institutions identified in the Times Higher Education’s World University rankings, the only Scottish institution moving upwards.
