In the group research, we found out that Dundee faces the issue of overcrowding household, and the research shows that there is a relation between studentification processes and the overcrowding of households. In response to the housing crisis in Dundee, our team decided to increase the number of houses in areas nearby the overcrowding boundary, taking under consideration the top things people look for when moving home mentioned at the Case for Space (outside space, size of rooms and proximity to local services) while making these areas more attractive by adding community facilities. On the other hand, the number of multigenerational households in the UK has increased since the beginning of this century. And some surveys also have shown that more or fewer relations between multigenerational living and overcrowding households in Scotland. Therefore, my architectural project solution is creating a co-housing community for multigenerational households to alleviate the housing crisis in Dundee, and at the same time, attempt to provide an architectural solution to deal with the opportunities and challenges brought by the growth of multigenerational households in next two decades.
