Monica Kurrikoff

I am a Swiss/American illustrator currently based in Dundee. I enjoy working traditionally, my preferred tools being pencil and paper, though my work branches into portraiture, ceramics, paper sculpture and at times bookmaking. Having a bond with people is very important in my work, be it with famous musicians or random folk at a night club. I am always eager to listen to stories and dive into the deeper depth of these emotions. During my final year, I was focusing on bringing the past to the present in a contemporary style. In the past, some nobles would have their hearts buried separately from their bodies in these ornate cases, statues and vases. Imagining this in the present day, I looked at musicians, focusing heavily on their aesthetics and music to create the perfect cases to remember them forever.
