Catriona Mair

My work is typically centred around things I love – nature and animals being the prevalent theme, as the colours and shapes, and the looseness I can demonstrate excite me more than the rigidity of many man-made objects. I’ve recently been looking into dinosaur illustration and following that path with my art, dinosaurs have always been an interest of mine, and drawing them has proven to be so much fun. There is little to no reference for them, which poses a challenge but makes exploring things such as colours, poses and ornaments more exciting as the sky can be the limit. I’ve began to work more digitally through university, as before a large portion of my work was made with watercolour and ink. I enjoy the freedom digital painting has, with a plethora of brushes and tools made readily accessible to use, and is so easy to use and experiment with.
