Fine Art

Louise Dickson

This year I have been cooking recipes sent to me by my Grandad prior to his death in November 2018. I have spent time cooking through these recipes; a therapeutic and thought provoking process for me. I have been using food as a means of exploring relationship and communication in the hope of encouraging food associated memories within myself as well as viewers. I believe that dinner can be viewed as the purest form of performance in that it only lasts as long as people eat, drink and speak; and in its entirety, can never be replicated fully. I aim to create a space for viewers to engage in reflective conversation over a plate of food and encourage food associated memory; creating an organic conversation entirely unique to each group of individuals offering their food associated memories.
