Architecture

Laura Farquhar

Presenting an alternative experience in the form of an autonomous mountain hut positioned at the crossing of popular walking routes in Knoydart, West Scotland. The design will embody the sustainable attitudes of the Knoydart community though material choice, construction methods and utilising renewable energies, while generating extra revenue. A building design which is to be integrated into an existing strong community culture must tackle economic, environmental and social challenges. Development will require careful consideration due to its challenging location and independence from the national grid.
