Jennifer McDougall

The design project and thesis concern a resource for the Knoydart Community. Following the principle of ‘fabric first’, the design centres around the utilisation of local construction materials that come directly from the Knoydart forestry saw mill. The focus has been on the production of a site appropriate solution that merges the best features of the current Scottish Accredited Construction Details with Passivhaus principles to produce a sustainable building design that will reduce the carbon footprint associated with both construction and usage, which is sympathetic to the local vernacular.
