We are the custodians of cultural collections of international importance concerning the University of Dundee, Tayside and beyond and provide guidance on the governance of the University's records and information.
Culture and Information manages and develops the University’s archival, museum and special collections safeguarding records and artefacts of local, national and international importance for use in teaching, research and community engagement. We provide guidance on the governance of the University’s information, compliance with information legislation and we are the custodians of its institutional memory. We lead the University’s information governance and cultural strategy.
Culture and Information is affiliated with the Centre for Archive and Information Studies which provides professional educational and research opportunities in the recordkeeping disciplines
Archive Services manages and maintains the University of Dundee's manuscripts and records collections. The Archive holds material relating to the University and to individuals, industry and organisations in the Tayside area and beyond.
Museum Services manages more than 30,000 historic artefacts, artworks and specimens, acquired by the University during the 130 years of its history. The collections cover a wide range of objects of artistic, historical and scientific interest.
Information Governance provides guidance on records and information management, compliance with information legislation and related information governance issues throughout the University.
We are also affiliated with the Centre for Archive and Information Studies
CAIS provides opportunities for archival and recordkeeping education and research by online distance learning. Programmes include professional taught Masters degrees, short courses for Continuing Professional Development and possibilities for research including doctoral study
