We develop algorithms and software for tasks such as detection, segmentation, recognition, reconstruction, inference, and prediction.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning, including deep learning, play central roles in our image, video, and data analysis work.

We collaborate extensively with researchers in other fields and with many companies to develop computational methods that impact on a range of application areas. A major focus is healthcare and biomedical image and data analysis, in areas such as ophthalmology, neuroscience, digital pathology, microscopy, gastroenterology, and radiology. Our research in computer vision includes visual perception of people and places, with applications in areas such as assistive technology and biometrics, and 3D reconstruction.

We aim to provide an inspiring and enjoyable environment promoting collaboration, equality, and creativity. Our staff and students interact frequently and learn from each other, aspiring to be the best at what they do, and are encouraged and trained to become internationally recognised researchers with awareness of the wider scenario, e.g. healthcare environments and their translational pathways.
