There are many theoretical and practical aspects of argumentation. Our research spans the original philosophy through linguistics, cognitive science and AI applied to software engineering.
We have partnerships with organisations such as IBM and BBC. These have led to innovative software applications such as OVA with users in over eighty countries. We have pioneered robust new standards such as the Argument Interchange Format (AIF) and hold the largest freely accessible corpus of analysed argumentation.
Our research has had extensive coverage on a global scale including BBC, Financial Times, and Wired Magazine.
We are building on our success by taking theories of argumentation and reasoning into exciting new applications for behaviour change, argument mining, and decision making.
