Bio

Biography

Dr Michael Crabb is a Computer Scientist with a background in HCI. He completed his PhD at the University of Dundee as part of the EPSRC funded SiDE Project in early 2014 followed subsequently by Post-Doctorate experience at the same institution. He then moved to RGU to take up a faculty position in 2015 before moving back to Dundee in 2018. His main research interests span the areas of Accessibility and User Experience. The main theme to his work is that accessible services should be created with the aim of going beyond a binary approach (e.g. off or on) but should add to the overall user experience of using a product. He currently leads a Carnegie Research Incentive Grant Project on the accessibility of augmented reality.

Crabb is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and its Special Interest Groups in Accessible Computing and Human Computer Interaction. He has served as a mentor for the 2015 BCS Doctoral Consortium, Chair for the 2018 SICSA HCI Doctoral Consortium, and Conference Chair for the 2018 SICSA PhD Conference. He is a leading community member in the W3C Silver Task Force examining future Web Accessibility Standards.
