Managing Director of Hobbs Tigon Ltd, an international advisory service on mining and sustainability currently working with governments and companies in Asia and Africa. He has/is serving on various advisory boards/management committees at the UNDP, World Economic Forum, International Chamber of Commerce, EU, Kimberley Process for Diamond Certification, EITI and Responsible Jewellery Council and has contributed to the formulation of several international standards on business and sustainability. He is a former chair of the Inter- Governmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and SD and the OECD’s ‘Environmental Professionals’ Group.
Former appointments include International Director (Extractives Sector) with WWF International (2010 -2017, Nairobi), Head of Strategic Processes for Sustainability and Extractives Policy Lead at the UK’s Department for International Development (200-2010, London), Director of UNEP’s Cleaner Production programme, (1998-2000, Paris) and Eskom’s Corporate Policy Environment Advisor (1981-1998, Johannesburg). He has also served as the ED of two regional offices of the WBCSD (Southern Africa and Northern Europe).
