Joaquin Figueroa has more than 20 years of professional experience. He has specialized in strategic thinking, strategic alliances, business development, and investment projects. He worked for two construction companies developing industrial projects, and then he joined the Mexican National Oil Company ‘Pemex’ 20 years ago, where he has occupied several positions, such as: Strategic Planning and Business Development Manager, Strategic Alliances and Business Development Sub-manager, Superintendent of Planning, Analyst of Investment projects, and Chief of Biddings.
He has experience in the strategic alliance process, analysing potential partners, developing assessment models, analysing frameworks and strategies for implementation, developing organisational design, and coordinating multidisciplinary internal teams and coordinating relationships with external parties (potential partners, technology companies).
Joaquin has participated in the development of business plans, developed and promoted scenario planning processes, identified strategic alternatives of feedstock, identified and assessed investment projects, developed positioning analysis of products, developed oil and gas market analysis and analysed the impact on the downstream operations. Joaquin has coordinated the development of projects’ bidding packages.
Joaquin is President and Co-founder of a Company in Sweden developing activities in the food industry.
He has a PhD from CEPMLP where he developed research on strategic alliances in the energy sector. He has an MBA in Oil & Gas Management (CEPMLP), a Diploma in Business Administration (Heriot Watt University); Master in Construction Management (ITC); Executive Business Programme (IPADE Business School); Bachelor in Civil Engineering (UIA); and has a Certification in Strategic Alliances (American Management Association).
Joaquin has been Guest Lecturer of Strategy and Management in the CEPMLP; has been conference speaker on various topics, such as: investment projects, energy & petrochemical industry, and strategic alliances; and has been reviewer for the European Management Journal.
