Frederico Munia Machado has B. degree from the University of Brasília (2003), and LL.M. in Mineral Law and Policy (distinction) from CEPMLP (2013). Frederico is a Brazilian federal attorney since 2006.
On 24 August, the Brazilian Government appointed him as the Attorney-General of the Brazilian mining authority (DNPM - National Department of Mineral Production). In this position, Frederico is in charge of leading a legal staff of more than 30 federal attorneys that rend legal services to the Brazilian mining authority. The legal team headed by Frederico plays relevant roles such as giving legal advice to the directors of the DNPM, setting legal theses and the correct interpretation of Brazilian mining legislation, and supervising administrative and judicial proceedings involving the DNPM.
“My studies at CEPMLP in 2012/2013 were decisive to make me ready to take this position. CEPMLP provided me a unique experience and understanding about the importance of mining, its laws and policies in an international context, especially about how this activity may play a relevant role for the economic and social development of a country such as Brazil. From now on I expect to use this expertise to contribute to the development of the mining sector in my country”, said Frederico.
