The start of the year has brought a number of new faces to the School of Business.

We have expanded our portfolio of degree programmes to meet the growing demand from students, and this has given us the opportunity to increase our academic team of staff, across all key areas of the School.

Dr Keith Dinnie

Keith’s main research interests lie in the domain of place branding, strategic brand management, digital marketing, and the country-of-origin effect. He is the author of Nation Branding: Concepts, Issues, Practice, 2nd edition and editor of City Branding: Theory and Cases. His work has been published in journals such as Marketing Theory, European Journal of Marketing, International Marketing Review, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Consumer Marketing, and Journal of Services Marketing. Keith has lectured and consulted widely in the United Kingdom, United States, Europe and Asia. He has taught on an international MBA programme that holds triple accreditation from AMBA, EQUIS, and AACSB.

His research, training and consultancy work includes projects conducted on behalf of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Institute of Industrial Policy Studies (IPS), William Grant & Sons, Euro RSCG advertising agency, Landor Associates, Burson-Marsteller, Diageo, ScottishPower, and Halifax Bank of Scotland. He has also advised the Korean Presidential Council on Nation Branding.

Dr Murat Mazibas

Murat has got 15+ years of experience in banking, capital markets and investment management industry. He has specialized in research, development and implementation in quantitative finance, investment management, risk modelling and quantitative trading/investment. On the industry side, he worked for the Treasury, the Turkish FCA (banking regulator), a financial markets operator (Istanbul Stock Exchange) and global asset and fund managers in different capacities from an economist, quantitative analyst to the head of quant research and head of research and development.

Dr Mazibas’ research interests are in the following areas: investment management, banking, quantitative portfolio management, asset pricing, volatility modelling, financial econometrics, quantitative behavioural modelling, market microstructure, risk modelling/management, macro-econometrics, quantitative/algorithmic trading. He is a published researcher in applied mathematics, quantitative finance and econometrics.

Dr Norin Arshed 

Norin is an economist by background with professional experience both in the public and private sectors. Her work concentrates on enterprise policy. In particular, the role and contribution from those closely linked to the formulation process (ministers and civil servants), whilst also examining how enterprise policy is implemented, and how entrepreneurs/SMEs experience and utilise such policy initiatives. Norin has published in Small Business Economics, Environment and Planning C: Politics and Space, Journal of Business Research, and International Journal of Management Reviews. She is involved with research and projects with numerous stakeholders: governments include the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (London), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Japan) and Industry Canada; prominent think tanks such as the Adam Smith Institute, and is a member on the advisory board for Innovation Caucus (ESRC and Innovate UK). She is also a visiting scholar at IÉSEG School of Management in Paris.

Dr Stavros Kourtzidis 

Stavros holds a BSc in Economics, an MSc in Applied Economics and a PhD in Economics from the University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece. His research interests are in the fields of banking & finance, efficiency & productivity analysis and operational research, with focus on network Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models. He has been a teaching assistant in Statistics for five years and an Adjunct Lecturer teaching Microeconomics at the University of Macedonia for one semester. He has participated in a major environmental economics research program about GHGs emission scenarios and mitigation opportunities in Energy, Transport and Industrial sector in Greece. He is also a reviewer for the Economic Modelling journal.

Dr Sudharshan-Reddy Paramati 

Dr. Sudharshan Reddy Paramati was an Associate Professor in Financial Economics at the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Nanchang, China. He received his PhD in Financial Economics from the Griffith University, Australia. He has done extensive research in the areas of international finance, energy and environmental issues, sustainable tourism management and socio-economic issue. He also has several papers currently under review in top tier journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Emerging Markets Review, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Empirical Economics, etc. Similarly, he also has a significant experience in teaching both Bachelor and Master level courses across Finance and Economic subjects at the Griffith University, Australia and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, China. Recently, in April 2017, he has received ‘Outstanding Contribution Award, for the year 2016’ from the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, China.

Dr Abhishek Pathak 

Abhishek is a Lecturer in Marketing and holds over a decade of industry experience. He is a qualified physician and has worked extensively with the Army (Parachute Regiment and the Special Forces) and the corporate hospitals, in both clinical and managerial capacities. In his corporate roles in the healthcare sector, he has headed the operations of the Oncology division and the commissioning of a Greenfield Health City project.

On the academic side, he has a diverse background in Medicine, Psychology and Marketing and holds an MBBS, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management and a PhD (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore). His research focuses on sound symbolism, multisensory integration, implicit perception of brand names and in the application of linguistics across many marketing domains.

Dr Edward Gilmore

Edward has a BA in International Relations from London and a MA in International Marketing from Sweden. He is a member of the Strategic Management Society, Academy of International Business, and the European International Business Academy. As a visiting scholar he has visited and given seminars at the department of strategy at BI Norwegian Business School; Fox Business School, Temple University; Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania and SCANCOR, Stanford University.

His research is under review in international business and strategic management journals and has been awarded prestigious awards during his time as a PhD by the Tom Hedelius scholarship by Handelsbanken and the Strategic Research Foundation scholarship by the Strategic Management Society and has won numerous SMS conference paper prizes. His primary research areas are in; strategy and control in the MNE, subsidiary evolution, digitalization and subsidiary ambidexterity and network theory.
