How to buy your tickets

Book your tickets in advance online or prepaid by phone. We will not have tickets available to purchase at the garden, but you can turn up on the day and pay by card or make a cash donation at reception.

Print off your online tickets or display on a mobile phone to show the receptionist at the garden entrance.

The Friends of the Botanic Garden can show your membership at the entrance and for those local visitors who plan to come more than once we encourage you to join the Friends membership group.


All University Staff and Students do not need to book a ticket online, they have free access showing a valid staff or student matriculation card.

 We are open from 10:00 until 16:30 (last garden entry 16:00). Children under 16 get in free. The glasshouses close at 16:15.

Complete our Visitors form

Before you visit please complete a Visitors access form before attending the Garden or fill out a track and trace form at the reception.

Your safety

good to go safety badge‌We have adopted a simplified garden entry and queueing system. 

The car park has a pedestrian path marked out for 2m social distancing which we ask you to follow and be aware of other visitors to site. If the garden entrance is busy, please remain patient and queue to the left of the garden entrance and follow the signage we have provided on site.  

The garden will maintain regular hygiene checks to facilities and ensure hygiene is maintained for all our safety.

When leaving the garden please follow the signage and use the hand sanitiser on site.

Dundee University Staff & Students - Free entry to the Garden (except for events) No need to book online.  

The garden is very popular with families and children of all ages. The paths are buggy-friendly, and there are baby changing facilities at the Visitor Centre

  • No Dogs Allowed in the Garden except for Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs wearing their working harnesses
  • No bicycles allowed (for both adults and children)
  • No jogging/running
