Taywood Turning Club formed in 1998 and is a branch of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain. Their aim and Constitution seek to foster a greater awareness and promote the art of woodturning. As a club, they hold public demonstrations and exhibitions. The club has over 60 members with an average of 35 attending each meeting in the Scout Hall in Monifieth regularly.
Taywood Turning Club accepts members from the age of 12 years. They meet on the first Saturday of each month at 12.00noon until 4.00pm where there is "Professional Demonstrators" or "Hand On" days. This is where more experienced club members can demonstrate their skills and assist to the newer members of the group.
Further details about the group can be found on the website www.Taywood.org.
Taywood welcomes visitors and potential members along to get an insight into what they do, with no obligation. They have attended various events in the past such as the Glamis Transport Extravaganza and The Dundee Flower and Food Show. They also try to support charitable and local causes where possible.
Taywood will be at The University of Dundee Botanic Garden on the 19 August 2017, all day Saturday - this is free entry and everyone is welcome to come along to their last Summer workshop.
