Research in Dundee
The Wellcome Trust PhD Programme for Clinicians is hosted jointly by the College of Life Sciences and the College of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing at the University of Dundee. This programme capitalises on strong basic science research, clinical excellence and a commitment to translational research and drug discovery to provide an unrivalled training opportunity specifically targeted to the needs of junior clinicians.
Basic science research at the University of Dundee is applied to understanding disease mechanisms and causation. This programme will focus on exceptional strengths in five key areas:
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Drug Discovery and Drug Metabolism
- Inflammation and Host Defence
- Neurosciences
Students are based either at the College of Life Sciences on the main campus in the city centre, or at the Ninewells Hospital site which is 2 miles away. Formal elements of the course will be delivered at both sites.
