Mr Simon Thuo is Regional Coordinator, Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWP-EnA), covering 9 countries in the Greater Horn. He started up GWP EnA in June 2003 with a budget of $150,000 which increased tenfold in less than 2 years. GEP EnA is based on the creation of robust national consultation fora that have attracted substantial support from donors who want to improve social and economic status of the countries through extensive stakeholder involvement in water resources management including policy design. Mr. Thuo is a civil engineer and water development specialist with professional involvement in policy and institutional development, resource and utility management, community empowerment and capacity building, and tariffication.
