Dave H started Discover Learning at Dundee in March 2010 and by the end of July 2010 had earned an undergraduate place at the University of Dundee, with passes in the Learning Xtra, English Literature, History and Psychology modules - all done online.
"I found out about the course simply by going online once I decided that I wished to go to university. I felt that I was in a dead-end job that did not fulfil me. Having done the DLAD course I am now preparing to embark on a completely new phase of my life, hopefully gaining a qualification that perhaps I should have aimed for many, many years ago. I found the course a little daunting to start with because the whole process was new to me, however, once I settled into it and understood the demands, I found it interesting and rewarding. It has been a great confidence booster for me as I prepare for life at university."

Colin M "Passed the four modules and have been offered a place on an under graduate course at the University of Dundee. I enjoyed every module and learned a lot from all of them. From the early settlers in the various parts of America, to how to read quickly, and take notes effectively. From how our brain works, to how to programme "pack man" to move around a grid on a computer screen. All four modules were varied and interesting. I used the library often and found that there was a completely different world there to what I am used to."
Gayle saw Discover Learning at Dundee as a way back to study after some time away. "Before starting the course I had been out of education for 17 years. The prospect of attempting Uni was daunting to say the least. This course enabled me to get back into a studious frame of mind and I completed 4 modules and gained much needed qualifications to get into Uni, each of which came with its own challenges I had to re-learn or learn along the way. Everything from study techniques, essay writing, referencing, deadlines, sourcing information and various other skills needed to survive being a student were covered. For someone like myself who had no previous experience of University I really found this course a godsend. The lecturers were on hand to deal with any questions or problems we had, one lecturer even ended up joining in with us all on a daily basis as he continually pushed us to broaden our views and thoughts via debate on the discussion board. I would highly recommend this course not just to someone who has been out education for a while but for anyone starting university or even thinking of starting University, its like a little taster of what's to come.. something that not only helps you gain the necessary skills you will need but something which builds your confidence and makes the big step of entering the university world a little less scary".

After 5 years I had decided to make a break and go to University.
