We offer an impressive portfolio of courses at taught postgraduate level as well as a number of innovative and exciting research areas.

You can apply to most of our full-time, taught postgraduate courses using the online application system, UKPASS

There are some courses which use other application systems, for example:

For Postgraduate Research degrees, please visit our Postgraduate Research page.

The majority of our full-time and part-time postgraduate courses have one start date (entry) in early September. There are some courses which have two start dates - one in September and one in January.

You can find the start dates and application systems for each course on the individual Postgradute course pages. You can also use our Courses Search to search for courses with specific start dates.

1. Register with UKPASS

To apply for one of our courses via UKPASS, follow the link from the individual Postgraduate course page. First of all you have to register with UKPASS, and then you can create your application online. You do not have to complete the application all at once, you can save your details and return to it at a later date.

As part of your application you will also have to upload certain documents. Please follow the procedures below for uploading documents (UKPASS is case and space sensitive):

  1. Please convert all relevant documents to PDF format and give each one a clear title which explains what the document is. For example:
    • CV.pdf (CV)
    • BScDegree.pdf (Bachelors degree certificate)
    • MScDegree.pdf (Masters degree certificate)
    • BScTranscripts.pdf or MScTranscripts.pdf (Transcripts)
    • EnglishCert.pdf (English Language certificate)
  2. Once you have completed your application, you submit it online, and we will receive it.
  3. We will check the documents you have sent and will email you an acknowledgement - we aim to do this within one week. Please note that if you do not include the relevant documents with your UKPASS application, this will significantly delay your application.

For more information on how we process your application, see Your Application Journey below.

For more information on the UKPASS application process, download our Applying through UKPASS guide (5MB).

If you require assistance using UKPASS, please contact the UKPASS Customer Service Unit via email on enquiries@ukpass.ac.uk or by telephone +44 (0)871 334 4 447 (Monday to Friday, 08:30-18:00 UK time).

Key dates for applications

For most courses, there is no formal closing date for UK/EU students.

  • For UCAS courses the closing date is 15 January in the year you wish to study.
  • Due to visa processing times we are unable to accept applications after 15th July from international applicants for courses starting in September.
  • Due to visa processing times we are unable to accept applications after 15th November from international applicants for courses starting in January.

3. Our decision

We aim to make our decision within 6 weeks of us receiving your completed application.

We can make three types of offers of admission and we will inform you of our decision by email and UKPASS (where appropriate):

  • Unconditional - if you have already obtained the necessary entry requirements
  • Conditional - if you still need to obtain the qualifications specified in the offer. If you obtain these, your offer will change to unconditional, meaning you definitely have a place.
  • Rejection - if you are not suitably qualified

An admissions pack (including matriculation/enrolment details, and a visa letter, if relevant) will be sent out once you have:

  • an Unconditional offer, and have informed the University of Dundee that you accept this offer OR
  • a Conditional offer, and have informed the University of Dundee that you accept this offer, and have also informed us that you have met the conditions of your offer

AND, in order to satify the new UK Immigration (Tier 4) Visa requirements, applicants requiring a Visa to study in the UK must have also:
  • sent the University a photocopy/scan of their passport (which should include passport number, name and full passport details, and any existing visas), and had this approved, and
  • sent the University evidence of the qualifications that they have obtained.

More information will be available here shortly on the new UK Immigration Points-based System (PBS, Tier 4) (see www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/).

4. Received an offer?

Congratulations! After you receive our offer, you must respond via UKPASS (if relevant), either:

  • Accept - if you wish to take up the offer, or
  • Decline - if you no longer want the place
