Residences Committees

How the Residence Council and committees are formed and what the roles of the office bearers are:

• Each flat or villa elects one representative at the start of the academic year. The Flat Rep represents the flatmates at the Residents Council, speaks to the Residents Committee on behalf of the flat, conveys information from the Committee back to the flatmates, helps the Committee organise events for the residents.
• The flat and villa representatives then form the Residence Council.
• The Residents Council elects the Student Committee and Residence's President from amongst its members.
• The four Associations of Residents in University Residences (Belmont, Heathfield, Seabraes and West Park) have adopted a Constitution confirmed by the Student Representative Council, which regulates the matters of student representation in university accommodation.

The Committee consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Convenor. The Convenor will normally preside at all the meetings of the Forum and shall have a casting vote. The Vice President shall deal with the correspondence of the Residence Committee, the calling of meetings and the keeping of minutes of meetings.

The Committee runs the Residence's affairs during the academic year and represents the residents to the University, the Dundee Student Villages and DUSA.

The Student Support Worker and the Deputy Student Support Worker offer guidance and support to the Residences Councils and Committees, helping them with their activities.
