Fire kills - often in a matter of minutes. For your own safety, and that of your fellow residents, it is important to respect the fire safety procedures in the halls.
Tampering with fire safety equipment (heat and smoke detectors, fire extinguishers) or setting off a false alarm puts everyone's safety at risk. Breaking the glass of a fire alarm for 'fun' brings TWO fire engines here. If a real fire breaks out elsewhere in Dundee these engines cannot attend - possibly resulting in the loss of lives.
If you see some one tampering with the fire safety equipment in the halls, this is a serious matter. Please report such incidents to us and we will take the necessary steps to discourage such behaviour.
It might be difficult to believe, but 3 minutes (180 seconds) is enough for a small fire to develop and entirely engulf a normal room. Watch the video clip!
