Mentoring for Students with Mental Health Difficulties
What is mentoring?
Mentoring is specialist one-to-one support for students who are experiencing ongoing mental health issues. It aims to support students whose symptoms are affecting their ability to study.
What mentoring support is offered?
- Liaison with academic departments with your agreement and on your behalf
- Support with managing your mental wellbeing by balancing academic work and health difficulties
- Help to develop coping strategies and skills to maximise your study potential and allow academic progress e.g.
- Motivation and goal setting
- Time management strategies
- Organisational skills
- Build on strengths and increase confidence
- Regular review of the impact of your mental health on your academic progress
